HR TRENDS 2017

by Stéfanie Rochford, CRHA

Like many other sectors, human resources management is also changing!  I summarize the major trends in recruitment and human resources for 2017.

1. HIRING OF « CULTURAL GENERATORS »
With the increased importance of teamwork and commitment to the employer, there is a marked interest in the “cultural fit” rather than the so-called more traditional skills related to the position.

2. THE RECONCILIATION OF RECRUITMENT AND MARKETING « SOCIAL MARKETING RECRUITMENT »
Greater collaboration with marketing and human resources to develop an attractive employer brand and optimize digital presence.

3. STRATEGIES FOR RECRUITING PASSIVE CANDIDATES
Stand out to attract passive candidates who represent, on average and according to studies, 60% to 70% of the working population.

4. DIVERSITY IN RECRUITMENT
Significant studies in the Harvard Business Review demonstrate strong links between innovation and the recruitment of employees whose diversity is either inherent or acquired.

5. ANALYSIS OF THE DATA
The importance in the ability to analyze “big data”, which allows us to act as a business partner at all hierarchical levels and for all services.

6. THE EVOLUTION OF PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS
More frequent feedback evaluations (as adopted by GE and Adobe) were observed thus replacing more formal annual evaluations.

7. TAILORED WORKING CONDITIONS
With the intensified war in talent, employers will have to offer conditions and social benefits tailored to each employee: vacation and mobile holidays, teleworking, insurance, etc.

8. TEAM PERFORMANCE RATHER THAN FROM THE EMPLOYEE
With globalization and technological change, there will be a greater appreciation of teamwork rather than individual performance. This trend also contributes to employee engagement and a dynamic corporate culture.

Happy new year!
